Let's not miss the 4th of July

Picnics, camping, family, fireworks - all part of Independence Day.

Let us not forget the price that was paid for our independence and to be thankful for the blessings we have.

Now, let us not allow some jokers to take it away from us.

Or we'll have to rise up with our pitchforks and torches to take it back.

Have a fun and safe 4th.

We missed D-day

The anniversary of D-day was yesterday, June 6, the day thousands of young men took to the beaches of Normandy in 1944 so that we could have some of the freedoms we enjoy today.

Do a search of d-day to read the history or see some video. See the movie 'Saving Private Ryan.'

There are very few men today as brave as those who landed on a beach or jumped from an airplane in the dark hours before the landing.

There are still brave souls today who are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, whether you agree with the wars or not.

Let us remember their sacrifice and the thousands who paid the extreme sacrifice.

Some thoughts on Memorial Day

It's Memorial Day weekend - that pivotal time when we have to decide whether we take the Christmas lights down or leave them up for next year.

It's also a time to decide if we are going away for the weekend or staying home. Fuel prices will help make that decision.

Whatever the choice, have a good time, be safe and try to remember what it is we are memorializing.

New State Law

According to a proposed new law that would go into effect July 1, 2008 you will no longer be able to use a cell phone while driving unless you have a 'hands free' adapter.

I went to Circuit City and they wanted $50 for a headset with a microphone for my cell phone.

Having a friend in the cell phone business, I talked with him and was able to come up with an alternative, working through Office Depot.

These kits are compatible with any mobile phone and one size fits all. I paid him $0.08 each because he bought in quantity.

Then we tried it with Motorola , Sprint, Verizon and Nokia units and they worked perfectly. A photo is attached so scroll down & take a look and let me know if you want one.

Also, forward this to anyone you know, who has a cell phone, and who may want one!

OK... Oregon is included

Oregon is included in our conspiracy. Now that you can't fish you will have more time to air your grievances. You are sharing in what Californians have been living for years. You can't move to another state because they are all going to hell in a handbag. It's going to take more than a resolution to change it.

I hear it everywhere

The government is doing this or is doing that and is taking more of our hard earned $$$.

What are we going to do about it? Are elections the answer? They give the same old bad service.

How can we make a big enough noise without getting arrested or having the IRS or the county breathing down our neck? This is how "they" work. They intimidate, assess fees, taxes and fines. What a country.

Our youth are taught more about feeling good about themselves than how to read or write and do simple math. Where are we headed? These are the same people who will be making decisions for us when we are in our "golden" years. At least they will know how to "feel" good when it comes time to put us in a home and pillage our bank accounts - if we have any left. Then they can just let us go peacefully - and feel good about it.

This used to be an awesome country. It can be again some day. It isn't our country when we can't cut a tree, drill a hole or build a refinery. Try to get a building permit now. $1,500. soil analysis. Visit from Cal-Fire. When did CDF become Cal-Fire? The gov doesn't practice forestry any more - they put out fires. It's an industry in itself. We don't produce anything with our resources. We consume and we are in debt. Hello? Who is in charge here? Stop their paychecks. Make them earn a living.

Can we do anything about the State of affairs now? Maybe we will have to wait for the meltdown and see how it all plays out.
